Open Water Fishing
I can pick you up at the dock of your resort or cabin or we can meet
at a place we agree upon, store, public access etc.
My boat is a 17.5 foot Lund Angler with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. 2003.
For muskies if you dont own a stout pole with a medium heavy
to heavy power, a good baitcaster reel spooled with minimum
50 lb superline and straight wire, sevenstrand, or fluorocarbon
leaders of 75 lb strength or better you will use my equipment.
And at the end of a day of fishing, I'll clean your fish!
That's walleyes only - the muskies go back to swim again!!
What to bring?
Rain gear, warm clothes (weather changes)
Cooler with food and beverages
Camera
Polarized Sunclasses
Sunscreen
Chapstick
A personal flotation device (PDF) if you have a favorite
A MN fishing license and trout stamp for winter trout fishing
Clothing that is warm enough or cool enough for the season you are fishing
Your own rods and reels if you like. For muskies make sure your equipment is
suitable for big ones. (If not, I have equipment for all species.)

Ice Fishing
Burntside Trout Adventures:
In the months of January, February and March my passion is the pursuit of lake trout on Burntside Lake, Snowbank Lake and Trout Lake.
Of the three I do most of my fishing on Burntside. It is a beautiful 7,000 acre Canadian shield lake with endless lake trout structure located near Ely, MN. It has a good population of native lake trout as well as stocked fish; and the forage base of smelt produces a fat, healthy fish.
Burntside doesn't give up its fish easily but I've developed a few very successful tactics over the years. Each winter I have a good catch rate with a number of fish in the 7 - 14 pound range as well as numbers of 3 - 6 pounders. Chasing these fickle fish in the northern woods winter is a challenge I relish!
I also make a few trips into Trout and Snowbank which are also beautiful lakes and good trout producing waters.
I will provide rods, reels, tip-ups and tackle if needed. I also have one Otter Magnum lodge, a 2 man sled house, one smaller two man sled house, heaters and a ten inch Jiffy Legend Stealth auger.
Depending on snow and ice conditions a snowmobile may be needed. I have one snowmobile with a hitch, rack and a two up seat. This is for myself and one passenger, and to tow the sled house and gear. Another snowmobile will be provided by you the client.
And at the end of a day of fishing, I'll clean your fish!
